After dedicating my life to softball for 15 years, the sudden end to competition was driving me insane.  A former teammate introduced me to CrossFit back home in Texas and I was hooked (as so many people are!).  The move to VA was hard for me because I was leaving everything and everyone I knew back in Texas.  CrossFit Fairfax became my home away from home.  I may be new to coaching CrossFit, but I have coached softball at every level for the past three years and the underlying theme is the same - help people become better than they started.  It doesn't matter if I am coaching a kid to hit an outside pitch or teaching a client how to do a Handstand Pushup, seeing people achieve things they didn't think possible is what I love about coaching.

I began CrossFit in April of 2011 and have not forgiven myself for not starting this programming earlier! After specializing for so many years in one activity – baseball – it was refreshing to look at ‘fitness’ from an entirely new, and diverse perspective. The aspects that I enjoy most about CrossFit are not only the varied intensity and movements of each day’s workout but also the family environment that is created by our Community and the focus on nutrition. Converting to a primarily Paleo-focused diet has greatly improved my performance, energy, and overall sense of daily well-being. The greatest part about training is meeting and interacting with clients on Day 1; then fostering their development and progress over time as they become stronger and more confident.

I was introduced to CrossFit after retiring from the national rugby team.  I had become so used to having workouts planned for me, that after I stopped playing rugby, I had to find something to fill that void.  CrossFit became my new addiction and I quickly became passionate about it.  My fitness background includes rugby, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.  I really enjoy helping others do things that they never thought they could do.  The look on someone's face when they get their first pull up or hand stand push up is priceless.

Started training in CrossFit in January, 2005. I am passionate about CrossFit, and I love sharing my knowledge of CrossFit. Even though the gyms have been blessed to do well in competitions, this is not what drives my passion for CrossFit. It is changing and improving my clients lives that is not only my biggest motivation but my greatest reward.
